St George

I told Cod that no matter what we were getting away as a family this year. Just for a mini family vacation and that's just what we did July 19-23. We took off and went to St George for the weekend. It was just the time away we needed. Short and sweet!

But I'm not going to lie, I thought our vacation was over before we even got on the road... It started off a little rocky with Cody's dad's truck breaking down at the butchers shop while we were picking up some meat to deliver to Cody's lil brother. (We had Dave's truck because it broke down while they were up fishing so they took my truck home. So they had it worked on and it was suppose to have been fixed.)
So we sat at Chucks meat for over an hour trying to get it started, waiting for the repair guy yo come take a look and for my parents to be bring Cody's truck down to switch into so we could start on our way. So we made the switch, towed the broken down ford back to the mechanic and finally we were headed. We made a short stop at Cody's sisters house to once again switch trucks for mine then headed south.
The girls traveled surprisingly well. We went the six hours, there and back with out watching a movie. Impressive right? I guess we could have lived in the olden days, jk!
We picked the perfect weekend to go, it was still pretty warm, but over cast so it wasn't blistering hot.

This was Jo's outfit of choice our first day in St Geo. Apparently she's been in the basin too long, after all it has been down to 36 degrees tht week with fresh snow in the mountains.
She's ready to go too!

It was sooooo nice being able to go swimming at 9 pm! We hit the city center splash pad the first night then the kids museum the next day.
The kids museum was pretty cute. There were different rooms full of interactive props and different things to experiment with. Jo loved it. She loved trying new things and was always saying, 'this is so cool mom, look at this mom, wow!'

We then went to the animal museum, we didn't love it. To be honest Cabelas mounts were bigger, better and cleaner than this museum and Cabelas is free!
These bears were pretty impressive though!

Then we were off to find us a snow cone, and boy did we find the best. Cod was in heaven!
I bet there was two blocks of ice on his, it was almost bigger than Coop. Notice how cod is holding Coops arms down, that is because she kept digging in by the hand fulls!

Now the whole reason we chose St George was because we wanted to take Dal to watch The Little Mermaid at the Tuachan. She kept telling everyone we were going to Disneyland to see Ariel. She was easily pleased!
The show was simply amazing. Jo loved ever minute! Her favorite part was when Ariel's sisters were singing  about her being in love. Jo stood up and started to dance and then said, "I can't wait to fall in love like Ariel!"

Yep, we are on trouble!

The next day we slept in as long as Cooper would let us and then headed back to slc so we could hit the living planet aquarium the next day. We ended up getting a room in west valley at the holiday in with the water park in side, so fun!
This is my favorite pic of the whole trip, just goes to show how fun if a daddy Cody is. Always willing to try anything to play with his girls.
That night we decided to catch a movie at the Cinemax next to our hotel, it was fun actually going to a theater that was clean and not completely packed, I sure wish the basin had one!

The next day we hit the aquarium and Costco then headed home.
Coopy didn't like the teeth, Jo on the other hand was amazed.

Overall we had a great time. Just a quick little family trip. Just what we needed. I'm not sure if the girls would ever last a longer trip, the day after they both slept most of the day. We completely wore them out!

Things I learned while we were traveling:
one we like to compare how big things are to Cooper.
Two we like sweet treats and a good snow cone, a lot!
And three we don't have to go on a big, long, expensive family vacation to have fun. All we need is some time away as a family to make us happy.

Sadly I don't think we'll be able to fool Dal about Disneyland for forever, eventually we will have to make the trip to meet all the princesses! And when the time comes I'm sure we'll love it, just because we will be together!

Ps Dal is ready to go again.....
